The Varsity Pantherettes have had the most successful season of their career. Girls basketball at RCHS went out of existence for a period but has been revived by coach Ann Spieker.
Opening the season with a scrimmage against Warren County, undefeated in their district, Rappahannock won with a 2 point margin, and the first district victory was with William Monroe. Highlighting the season to date was the defeat of ; Madison in which Rappahannock set a new scoring record.
Elkton’s game saw double overtime play, to lose by two and a repeat in the game with Strasburg, a two-point defeat for the Pantherettes. Last Thursday, we topped William Monroe, according to coach Spieker. The regulars are Jamelle Prudhum, Chris Nicholson, Rhonda Estes, Sandy Hudson, Eleanor Phillips, Janice Aylor, Patsy Smoot, Natalie Swindler, Lynn Anderson, Shelly Kidwell, Rhonda Williams, and Jackie Myers. The next home game is October 18.
