Both the JV and Varsity girls basketball teams at the local high school are performing well this season. Team effort is the key, in addition to dogged practice, according to the squad coaches.
The JV team is running third in the district with half the season behind them. They have been victorious over William Monroe twice, Madison, Elkton, Strasburg, and Page.

Starters on the team include Judy Lynn, a sophomore playing forward, who jumps, growls and out hustles her opponents, according to coach Nelson. She has been high scorer in five games.
Marion Eastham, a sophomore playing for the first year, is center while Rhonda Brown, a transfer student, has proven herself on the court, also. Denise Wingfield is a cool headed sophomore guard with ball control and shoots well from a medium distance.
