Coleman maintained that Virginia’s growth had brought a conflict between the dwindling supply of land and the increasing demand for it that could not be ignored. Some changes have to be made, he insisted.
“There’s a tendency in the halls of government to avoid change,” Coleman said. “If something is not working well, but is not necessary to change, government won’t change it.”
Changes should be made when necessary he said, and more careful planning of land-use is a needed change.
“Growth must be part of an orderly process, and I think the citizens of the Commonwealth are becoming increasingly concerned over land-use. We have to be concerned to insure environmental protection and economic growth.”
