Services for Milton Garnett Hitt, 67, of Amissville were held last Thursday afternoon at the Geest Funeral Home Chapel, Culpeper, conducted by the Rev. A. C. Walker. Burial was in the Amissville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Surviving Mr. Hitt are his wife, Mabel Lee Weakley Hitt; five stepchildren, Mrs. Virgie Scott of Culpeper, Mrs. Rose Wichterman of Liberia, Jack Smith of Amissville, Mrs. Frances Groves of Remington and Charles Smith of California; several step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Susie Priest of Amissville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hitt died Tuesday, August 15, 1978, at his home. He was a native of Rappahannock County and the son of the late John Turner and Sophie Settle Hitt. He was a retired carpenter.
