Forage lour

Set At Rokeby

A Northern Virginia Forage Tour is scheduled for Sept. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Paul Mellon’s Rokeby Farms, Upperville.

Rokeby's 5200 acres are managed by Garland W. Moon. The farms are renowned for their fine thoroughbred horses, but they also support a large, efficient livestock operation.

Moon tries to produce as much hay and silage as possible, and the primary emphasis is on corn silage and clover grass hay, on permanent pastures and tall fescue for winter grazing.
