The internationally famous Duke Ellington Orchestra, conducted by Mercer Ellington son of the late Duke, will entertain at the Charles Town Races on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. and between the first three races.
Mercer Ellington, who began his association with his father’s orchestra at the age of eight, took the orchestra’s leadership immediately following his father's death to maintain the tradition established by the Duke during his five triumphant decades as a band leader.
