The Rappahannock Lions Club was one of several Northern Virginia clubs to receive the prestigious "State Achievement Award" at the District 24-A Fall Conference, November 4, in Fredericksburg. The award, for overall administrative excellence during the f977-78 fiscal year, was presented by former Lions District governor Ken Hitch. Phil Butten, former Rappahannock club president, and Bob Ingle, Secretary, accepted the award. A “State Achievement Award” patch, symbolizing the distinction, will be sewn onto the Rappahannock club banner.
