Chairman E. P. Luke took a first step on Thursday towards directly involving the Rappahannock Supervisors in development of the county’s comprehensive plan. At the November 2 meeting of the Board. Col. Luke handed out copies of a list of general goals and objectives that he'd prepared with assistance from county engineer Fanning Baumgardner.
"If you don't like anything that's here, write some down on your own," Luke told the rest of the Bpard, emphasizing that he intended his list to serve as “a starting point...a think piece.
"1 have no pride of authorship." the Supervisor Chairman continued. "You can throw it in the trash if you want to."
Luke noted that Planning Commission members, currently working on development of a comprehensive plan with helpfrom Planning District 9 staff, had requested the Supervisors to furnish them with goals and objectives. "They'd like opinions from the Board on what we think our goals are." he said.
Luke emphasized that he didn't expect the Supervisors to comment at Thursday's meeting on the list he and Baumgardner had prepared. He suggested that the Supervisors take it home, read it and discuss it with friends before commenting on the goals at the December
Board meeting.
