Increases
1.5 Per Cent
The Consumer Price Index in the area rose 1.5 per cent in the two months ending Sept. 30 to 200.8 (1967 prices equal 100). The 1.5 per cent increase was caused primarily by the higher costs of owning and maintaining a home. Costs rose for home financing and purchase, natural gas. furniture and repairs.
Prices for food declined 0.3 pier cent. Beef prices were down 5.5 per cent after rising at an average monthly rate of 3.4 per cent during the first seven months of the year.
