On the morning of November 2, “Jim Bill” Fletcher, MFH of the Rappahannock Hunt, invited Benjamin H. Hardaway, Master of the Midland, Georgia Hunt, to bring his famous pack of “deerproof ’ foxhounds to try their luck at running our Rappahannock foxes. The day was still, dry and most unlikely to produce sport. The meet was called at the beautiful old 18thCentury house, Montpelier, in the Francis Thornton valley along Route 231.
At 8 a m. Ben Hardaway carried his hounds out in front of a big field of 60 riding hunters and some 20 knowledgeable foot hunters who had come from all over six counties to watch for the vaunted nose and drive of the Georgia hounds.

Scout Troop 123 from Washington will host a Cub and Scout Leaders’ roundtable discussion at Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday, November 9, at 730 p.m. Shenrapawa Chapter of the Order of the Arrow will meet at the roundtable. r
