senior citizens, panel groups, women's clubs and church groups. There have been 12 meetings in Richmond on committee and subcommittee work and two meetings at Jamestown. Needless to say, I have learned a great deal of what the good folks in the 25th Legislative District are interested in. According to the schedule ahead there are at least a dozen or more groups to talk to until January 9th, 1979, when the General Assembly reconvenes.
Now to “what’s happening”: The Finance Committee always meets on the 3rd Monday in Richmond to go over carried over bills. Some of these bills were not bad enough to kill or good enough to pass, so we have to do something with them before the deadline of January 19th, 1979. The trend so far has been to kill most of them. Of the 27 carried over bills of this particular committee, 10 have been killed, 6 carried over until the next meeting, one dropped and 10 yet to be worked on. One particular bill that was killed was HB No. 941. Delegate Cranwell of Vinton, Virginia was the patron and it had to do with raising taxable income of
