scheduled for July 20 Deputies Crossman and John Godlewski in response to calls from Country Manor Gift Shop and Parkway Gift Shop in Sperryville investigated and made charges in an incident in which checks were altered and money obtained falsely.

Thomas Lee Weil of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. was apprehended in Culpeper about a half hour after deputies broadcast an alarm and description of Weil’s vehicle. He was charged with four feloneies, two of uttering and forging checks and two for obtaining money under false pretenses. He was also cited for a misdemeanor, that of altering his driver's license. Weil was incarserated in Fauquier jail with bond set at $20,000.
