Underground Tank
“It’s getting to the point where we’re having problems getting gas,” said Sheriff W. A. Buntin in asking the Supervisors to install an underground tank for Sheriff s Department use. “The tank would belong to the county and we’d keep it full of gas,” added Buntin.
Baldwin agreed that the tank should be installed, noting that bulk gas would be seven or eight cents cheaper.
"It won’t save the county any money. They (Sherrifs Department personnel) pay for their own gas,’’ said Supervisor H. B. Wood. The underground tank “might be something we won’t even need but we probably should do it,” he continued.
Wood noted that the Sheriff and deputies, who drive their own cars and are paid mileage by the county, would save only a few cents per gallon from buying in bulk.
