Nine days of special programs, exhibits, activities, and demonstrations—to be highlighted by tethered hot air balloon flights and a moon landing re-enactment—have been set July 14-22 by the Science Museum of Virginia to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the first moon landing.
“One Giant Leap: Prologue to the Future,” a review of past accomplishments, present activities, and future potential in space, also will include: Museum-sponsored trips to NASA’s Langley Research Center; classes on model rocketry; demonstrations with a lunar sample kit; continuous showings of three space-related films; full scale and one-third scale models of a Mercury capsule, and onethird scale models of a lunar lander, Gemini, and Apollo command modules; and an evening presentation on “The Solar System Unveiled,” by Duke B. Reiber, a NASA public information specialist.
