front of the Museum from 25 p.m. Approximately three people will be carried aloft at a time in the Kings Dominion-Firestone balloon.
At 6 p.m., the public is invited to bring picnics, listen to the Original Dixieland Strutters; and from 8-8:30 watch the moon landing reenactment. Presented by 14 youngsters enrolled in the City of Richmond’s Summer Enrichment Program for the talented and gifted, the performance will include a look at astronaut training, mission control in Houston, and the moon landing and first steps by Armstrong.
The production, under direction of Ms. Patch Clark, will involve three stages, use a theater-in-the-round format, and seek audience participation.
Alden Aaroe, Richmond radio (WRVA) personality, will emcee the evening, and comment on his recollections of the first moon landing. Sky Watch, the regular monthly celestial observing session, will begin at 9.
Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, and 1-5 p.m., SaturdaySunday. On July 20, however, the Museum will be open from 10 a.m.-ll p.m. Admission is 25 cents per person, and parking is free.
