By PHILIPPA KIRBY Rappahannock Mew* Special Writer Rev. Peter Weems, the new Methodist minister in Flint Hill, says that, when he was growing up, he was a rebel. He moved from job to job, and travelled around, not settling down permanently at anything. But he feels that this same rebellion, allowed hin^to be more receptive and understanding of the Christian message when he was introduced to it. “I think that the experiences that I had helped me very much,” he explains. “It somehow just fits together like a puzzle."
Weems was born in Dayton, Ohio, though his family moved east when he was still very young. He went through the Lexington school system, and finished up in a Maine prep school. Following this, he tried studying engineering in an effort to follow his father, but he found that his interest was very limited. So he abandoned this and embarked on a series of short-lived jobs. He lists some of his employment attempts with a smile, mentioning work in Jordan Marsh department store in Boston, work as a machinist, work on a construction crew, work in landscaping, and selling encvclopedias.
