ROUTE 211—AMISSVILLE ft

Wiping stains are now widely used for ordinary wood refinishing projects. They apply easily and contain paint-like pigments along with a colored liquid. The liquid darkens the wood, while the pigment in suspension holds the color light where the wood would most likely darken. Wiping then removes the pigment on the surface and creates the distinctly mottled appearance of this kind of stain. Stain waxes achieve a similar effect. They are now much improved and offer a fast way to give wood the color and sheen wanted. Be sure to select a stain that can be used under a good, highly wear-resistant top-coat.
