It was at this point that Weems’ life changed completely. He went to visit his brother in West Virginia, and on the way down, he stayed with a friend of his named Roger Balcom. It was Balcom who introduced him to Jesus, and the message of Salvation.
The visit extended to almost six months, and Weems “became convinced that Jesus was right”. And this conviction led to his enrollment in the Wesley Theological Seminary, from which he emerged to take up his first charge here in Rappahannock.
In looking back over his life, Weems is sure that he needed those years of rebellion to prepare him for the life which he now leads. He feels that it would
