Commissioner of Virginia’s Division of Litter Control, announced last week that $680,000 in new funds is now available for litter control grants to Virginia cities, counties, and towns. During the past fiscal year (1978-79) the Division awarded grants totaling $645,068 to 239 Virginia localities.
The purpose of the grants program is to foster the development of new and expanded litter control activity at the local level. According to Slocum 100 percent of the 41 cities, 92 percent of the 95 counties, and 59 percent of the 188 incorporated towns eligible for Division funds last year applied for and received grants ranging from $250 to

Energy Audit
Northern Piedmont Electric Cooperative, one of the nation’s 1,000 rural electric cooperatives, will take part in the fifteenth official national observance of Cooperative Month during October. As part of Northern Piedmont Electric Cooperative activities, a representative will be available to give a personalized energy audit for members at the Culpeper office, October 1-5 during regular business hours. This audit will show total energy cost for operating the family automobiles and home for a 12 month period. It will also reveal the savings for lowering or raising home temperatures for heating and cooling, improving insulation, adding storm doors or windows and the impact of supplemental heating.
