A workshop demonstrating silk-screen fabric design techniques is being offered by the Fai^qui&r Chapter of the Virginia Museum &ct. 15 and 16 with Virginia Museum artist-in-residence Barbara Crawford conducting the program.
Crawford will first offer an evening lecture and demonstration Oct. 15 beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Airlie. A day-long workshop will follow the next day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will be held in the art department at Fauquier High School.
Crawford will introduce the basic techniques of textile design at the evening lecture, using examples of traditional and contemporary fabrics. She will also demonstrate a simple and inexpensive method of silk-screening on fabric. A multi-slide presentation of printed textiles and related designs from nature will conclude the program.
The day-long workshop begins with a demonstration of silk-screening onto fabric with an inexpensive paper stencil. Each participant will design and print pieces of fabric using several methods. The workshop will conclude with a group discussion and critique session.

The Sperryville Rescue Squad transported Roy Swindler from his home in Sperryville to Culpeper Memorial Hospital on September 19. Jeff Deal and K. W. Staffen, both of Sperryville were taken to the Culpeper Memorial Hospital on September 24 by the squad.
