Two months earlier, the administrative review team observed that “lack of supervisory staff has delayed placement and service arrangements for students who are found to be eligible for services.”
Standards of Quality mandate that a student’s eligibility for special education programs be determined within 45 days after referral for services. Eligibility testing must include an evaluation by a psychologist. The report notes that this 45 day limit is not being met. “However, current activities and procedures are removing this lag,” the report states.
Within the past two years, according to the administrative review team, students identified and served in special programs have increased from 19 to about 100. “It would appear that corrective action is already in progress,” the report states.
Currently, students in special education programs are not being re-evaluated every three years, as required by state Standards of Quality, according to the review team. The report cites a need for re-evaluation,
