When Peanuts isn’t being loved by Clifford, she rides in the front of Margaret’s sweater where she stays warm while the postmaster sorts the Viewtown mail. Margaret reported that the little dog is so spoiled, she won’t set foot off the front porch if there’s rain or snow, insisting instead that she be carried. This past winter, someone remarked to Red Payne, the Amissville mail route carrier, that snow was getting too deep for Peanuts to make the trip from the house to the store with Margaret. “He just laughed and said that as long as Margaret could get through. Peanuts would be right there with her.”
It’s that way with Margaret, Theodore and Clifford. As long as they can get there, the three will be keeping store in Viewtown. "We don’t make a lot of money but we make a living,” Theodore chuckled.
