The license fees paid by hunters and fishermen in Virginia will change this year, according to the Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries. The cost of most licenses used by sportsmen will increase for the 1980 season, but Virginians who want to hunt and fish only in their home county or city will find the price of this license has been lowered.
Beginning July 1, County or city resident fishing licenses will cost $3.00 and a statewide resident fishing license will sell for $7.50. A license to fish in stocked trout waters is $4.00. Nonresident licenses are: fishing—$15.00; stocked trout—$10.00. A five-day trip license for anglers remains unchanged at $3.00. Beginning in 1981 fishing licenses will be sold on an annual basis. Fishing licenses purchased this July will be good for 18 months through December 1981.
The price of hunting and trapping licenses has also changed. A resident hunting license will cost $7.50 this year and a big game license for residents will also be - $7.50. Non-residents will be paying $30.00 each for hunting and big game licenses. County and city hunting licenses are $3.00 this season. Trapping will cost $7.50 for a county-city license and $25.00 for a statewide permit. As in the past, hunting licenses are good from July 1 through June 30.
