“With the disparity between state funds and local funds (in the proposed 198181 school budget), I have grave reservations about us meeting the SI, 075 (minimum per pupil expenditure set by the General Assembly),” Superintendent William Bloomer told the Rappahannock School board at a special meeting last Friday morning.
According to Bloomer, the county will receive $599,947 in state aid for 1980-81, an increase of S213.376 or 55.2 per cent over the current year. At the same time, local funds called for the operational budget approved by the school board amount to $863,005, an increase of $6,184 or 5.2 per cent from 1979-80.
Both state and federal funding will be in jeopardy if the county fails to meet the minimum $1,075 per pupil expenditure.
