When asked about the costs of these trips, Lynn states that it is possible for students to travel abroad at greatly reduced rates if plans are made carefully and well in advance.
Each trip, he says, must be arranged about a year in advance in order to obtain rates which students can afford. For example, applying early, one can obtain for a small fee the "Open to View” passes which enable students to enter all historical sites, museums, and monuments in England and Scotland free of charge.
According to Lynn, many of the students have been earning money for the trip since last summer. A student magazine drive in January netted $4000 which, applied against the cost of the trip, helped out considerably.
Lynn says that the most important condition attached to the trip is that it must be a significant learning experience for each student. For the past two months students have attended a series of lectures on the history, geography and architecture of Great Britain.
