Area students of the ballet demonstrated their talents to a full house at Wakefield School, March 28. The Wakefield Country Day School Dancers and the Holstrom Dance Companyof Front Royal presented jointly an evening of ballet featuring dance pantomimes and routines in a varied program.
Wakefield girls, who are required to take classical ballet to develop poise and graceful body movement, presented their annual spring recital under the direction of Mrs. Sandra Massie. Girls from grades one and two danced “Toy Store” to Tchaikovsky. Grades three and four presented a dance pantomime, “Old Women Who Lived in a Shoe,” featuring preparatory school soloist, Hallimah Holliday. “Snow White and the Eight Dwarfs," an intermediate dance pantomime in four acts, was performed by girls in grades five and six and featured Margaret Holliday as Snow White, Tara Welty as the wicked queen, Nancy Massie, as the witch, and Susannah McClellan as the huntsman.
