Rappahannock !New* Staff Writer Katie Morgan, youth services planner with the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission, presented the county supervisors with copies of the recently completed "Comprehensive Plan for Youth Opportunities" at Monday’s monthly board meeting.
Done at the urging of the planning district’s criminal justice advisory council, the youth plan’s purpose is to inform the community of the needs of its young people, according to Morgan.
A volunteer task force working with Morgan surveyed agency professionals, community organizations and churches, and students at Rappahannock County High School in grades 7-12 to determine primary needs in education, health, employment, recreation and juvenile justice. After evaluating responses, Morgan and the task force identified areas requiring attention in each category.
