The turn-out at that H78 meeting and the district’s vote ui the June referendum signaled loud and clear that the citizens of StonewallHawthorne have a vital interest in the public schools that their tax dollars support. There was no compelling reason that we know of for filling the vacancy on the school board almost in the same breath in which it was announced. The people of StonewallHawthome deserved a chance to be heard. Their supervisor should have given them that chance.
