Rappahannock News Staff Writer In a surprising development at Monday’s monthly meeting of the Rappahannock supervisors, the board appointed Nelson Lane to the county school board and David Thornhill to the planning commission to fill unexpired terms left by the departure of Walter Masterson.
Following a half-hour executive session on personnel and litigation, supervisor chairman E. P. Luke read a letter from Masterson announcing his immediate resignation from both the school board and the planning commission. In the letter, Masterson gave no reason for his action.
H. B. Wood, supervisor from the StonewallHawthorne District represented by Masterson, nominated Nelson Lane to fill the two years of the unexpired term. Endorsement from the rest of the board members was unanimous.
