Nelson’s father, Chicago industrialist William Lane, was the county’s largest single land owner at the time of his death in an automobile accident in September, 1978.
Nelson Lane became a fulltime resident here shortly before his father’s accident and currently manages cattle operations at Eldon Farms.
Asked what his goals are for the county’s educational system. Lane said he wants to see Rappahannock with schools “as good as we can get...education is a person’s best tool in life.”
