Caught in the same economic crunch that has forced lay-offs and plant shut downs across the country, Aileen, Inc., Rappahannock’s largest single employer, has gone to a four-day week at their Flint Hill facility and will close the doors to their Strasburg plant at the end of August, leaving 190 workers without jobs.
According to Wayne Walker, manager of the Aileen Flint Hill branch, reduced sales in the garment manufactuer's children’s line caused the closing at Strasburg. He emphasized, however, that the company expects no major cutback in Rappahannock.
