Wind, solar, hydroelectric, fusion, biomass and geothermal are all energy sources featured in a traveling exhibition named Energy that's coming to the State Fair of Virginia from Sept. 18 to 28.
The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and admission is free, according to C. L. Teachworth, executive vice-president of the State Fair.
Energy, the largest traveling exhibition from the U. S. Department of Energy, is housed in two 50-foot trailers with more than 25 exhibits about the energy issue.
Two exhibit managers. Bob and Susan Love from the American Museum of Science & Energy in Oak Ridge, Tenn., will be available to answer questions. The exhibition is operated for the Energy Department by Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
America’s oil consumption has been growing at a rate which currently requires almost half of it to be imported. Importing oil, America's prime energy source, affects the inflation rate and the balance of trade. The exhibition. Energy, has more than 25 visitoractivated exhibits telling the energy story. Free Energy Department literature on a variety of subjects will be available for visitors to take home.
Pap Clinic
The free Pap clinic, sponsored jointly by the Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society and the county health department, will be hrld Thursday, August 21. from 10 a.m. to noon in the health department's Clopton House office.
Patients will be seen by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 937-5686 or 675-3636. The clinic is aimed particularly at women past childbearing age who do not have a regular physician.
