Timothy J. Kilby of Sperryville has received a 1981 Photographers’ Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, an independent agency of the Federal government. He was one of only 52 recipients out of 2066 applicants nationwide for this year’s awards. He is the only recipient from Virginia.
The grant, which is based on artistic achievement in the field of still photography, will enable fellows to purchase time and materials to further their careers in the arts as they see fit. The panel of jurors selecting the awards this year were Robert Cumming, Ellen Manchester, Joyce Neimanas, Anthony Barboza and Harold Jones, all noted fine art photographers.
Tim Kilby received his B. S. degree from Virginia Tech and his M.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology. His photographic career includes eleven group and six oneman exhibitions. Kilby's photographs are included in seven national and international collections, among them the Corcoran
