tourists who drive 50 to 100 miles for the excellent buys offered in Rappahannock who support our businesses.

In the commercial world, anything that isn’t used, disappears. If we don’t patronize Rappahannock’s shops and stores, not just at Christmas but throughout the year, we may wake up one morning and find “closed” signs nailed up on doors and windows. *

Shopping in the county is a far cry from braving the madhouses that pass for urban malls and centers. Here, we don’t fight traffic. We don’t have to contend with harried and unpleasant sales people. We bring most of our Christmas spirit home with us instead of leaving it at the department store cash register. When we shop at home, the customer gets what she wants - a quality gift that will be cherished and appreciated. The merchant makes money and the profits are ploughed back into the community, directly and through sales tax revenues returned by the state. Try shopping at home first and make it a merrier Christmas for everyone.
