store and then as a carpenter and contractor. It wasn’t until arthritis in the knees forced him into retirement about six years ago that he began looking around for a way to keep his hands busy. “I needed something to pass the time,” he explained.
According to his wife, Stanley saw her sewing machine sitting on the kitchen table one day and decided to give it a try. “He got to sewing and then got it in his head to start quilting and went from there,” Bertha recalled. “Now if I start the machine, he gets in front of it.” she chuckled.
