The Rappahannock School Board voted Tuesday night in its final budget session to increase salaries by seven percent and to include, with stipulations, the $21,000 requested by the superintendent for initial architect’s fees for the high school construction program.
Discussion on capital outlay items and salary figures had been postponed until this week to enable the board to move quickly on other, less controversial line items.
The seven percent increase in salaries is a cut from the 11 percent recommended by the Rappahannock County Education Association (RCEA). The increase in teachers’ salaries is traditionally carried across the board to all school employees.
