Miss Rappahannock

Contest

The Miss Rappahannock Beauty Contest will be held on April 15. Rehearsal is April 13 at 7:00 p.m.

This annual event is one of the main fundraisers for the Sperryville Rescue Squad.

Contestants range from age 3 to high school seniors. Each individual is to try to get a sponsor. If a contestant can’t find a sponsor, one will be assigned.

This year there will be a special category for young men, ages 3, 4 and 5. For more information, call Kim Burke at 987-8570 or Nancy Leake 987-8971.

Benefit Dinner Planned

The Sperryville Ladies Auxiliary will serve a dinner of home cooked food on Saturday, April 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall.

The menu includes ham, parsley potatoes, sauerkraut, pinto beans, stewed tomatoes, baked apples, homemade biscuits, corn muffins, desserts and beverages all for $6 for adults and $3 for children. Carry out service will be available from 4:30 until 5:15 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at Sperryville Corner Store, Sperryville Emporium, West End Shell and Parkway Gift Shop and from members of the auxiliary.

Gospel Concert

Gospel groups from local churches will present a gospel extravaganza at the Rappahannock County Elementary School on Sunday, April 24, beginning at 3 p.m.

Admission will be $2.50 for adults and $1 for children with proceeds to benefit Hopewell Baptist Church.

Play At Wakefield

The Government Inspector General by Gogol will be staged Saturday and Sunday at Wakefield School in Huntly.

Curtain time will be 8:00 for both productions.

RAAC Board Meeting

The RAAC Board of Directors Meeting will be held Sunday, March 27 at the Courthouse in Washington. The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Dance Concert

A RAAC-sponsored modem dance concert by New York City dancer Ellen Webb and Company will be held April 9 at 8:00 at the Community Center in Washington. Admission will be $3.00.

Artist To Present Exhibit

A slide show, exhibit and discussion on being an artist in the world today, how it is and what can be done will be presented by New York painter Sandy Walker on April 10 at 7:00 at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community.
