Bob Crigler, the Madison County game warden, predicts that conditions “should be just about perfect” for the childrens trout fishing carnival on the Rose River when the fishing season opens at noon on Saturday, April 2.
“Water conditions should be close to ideal,” he said, “and we have plenty of trout stocked. They are good healthy fish too, and some nice-sized ones among them.”
Crigler is referring to the children’s section of the Rose River set aside exclusively for 12-year-olds and younger on opening day. For that one day only, boys and girls will not have to compete with grownups for the best trout fishing locations.
