potter June Jordan will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each of 19 categories. A special prize goes to the first male and female residents of Rappahannock to break the tape. They will receive the coveted Eva L. Smith Memorial trophies, presented in honor of the former county clerk who helped organize the inaugural running of the race.
In addition, the first 300 finishers will take home Fodderstack tee-shirts designed by Lois Manookian. Tee-shirts are provided this year through the sponsorship of Roy Wheeler Realty.
The race is open to all runners, serious and “fun” athletes as well as walkers. (In past years, the Fodderstack has even included an unofficial category for mothers pushing baby strollers.) Fodderstack Day won’t end with the race this year. In addition to the Washington Baptist Church’s annual “spring thing” which features a flea market, plant sale and boxed lunches, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community has lined up a series of afternoon events. There will be a re-enactment of the meeting 150 years ago of the county’s first “Gentlemen Justices” on the front porch of Washington House and a pet show at 1:30 on the grounds next to the Cash Store. Later in the afternoon, the Academy Award winning film, “Chariots of Fire,” will be shown at the Gay Street Theater.

Sets Meeting
The 33rd annual meeting of the stockholders of ShenValley Meat Packers, Incorporated will be held in the Broadway High School, Broadway, Virginia, on Friday, April 1, commencing at 10:30 A.M. All stockholders are urged to attend.
The stockholders will be asked to elect three directors from the nominees who have been selected by the nominating committee. Additional nominations may be made from the floor. All members present that are eligible holders of common stock may vote on any nominee.
The 1982 operational and financial reports will be given by Adolph G. Ackermann, Jr., general manager.
Dr. Jack H. Armstrong, deputy administrator with the Agricultural Cooperative Service, United States Department of Agriculture, will speak on “Co-ops, Cattle and Computers.”
A barbecued beef lunch will be served in the school cafeteria to the stockholders and guests.
