CLUB NAILS
A very common occurrence in both men and women is the development of a fungal or club nail. This thickened and many times painful entity has its beginning from a blow to the toenail. It does not have to be one that causes any reaction at the time or even a great deal of pain. Some theories say that too short shoes over a period of time cause "micro-trauma" to the nail.
Eventually the nail starts to discolor. It may be a brownish color or it may be difficult to detect. Some people have no symptoms and have the malady for years, while others become painful and sometimes infected in a few months. This may be due to different strains of the fungus. There are different types of treatment for the problem depending on the severity of the symptoms. They range from oral medication, local reduction, to corrective procedures.
