Material sent to Robinson stressed that the identification of the sites does not mean that all of the acres will be sold. He was informed that, in the next few weeks, the administration intends to submit legislation to Congress to authorize the sale of those portions of the six million acres which ultimately may be found suitable for disposal.
The information supplied to the Seventh District representative also stressed that the land involved is limited to isolated parcels, some lands in checkerboard ownership patterns, lands needed for community expansion, and some lands currently under special use permit that are unlikely to be needed for public purposes in the future.
