Ticket In ’84?

The Democrats’ Jefferson^Jackson Day celebration a fortnight ago in Richmond’s John Marshall Hotel may have been more of a landmark event than it seemed to have been at the time.
It clearly added fuel to speculation that former astronaut John Glenn, now the junior U.S. Senator from Ohio, is the unacknowledged favorite of many party elders in Virginia for the 1984 presidential nomination.
It also gave a boost to the still small but growing view which olds that Gov. Charles S. Robb would make a mighty fine vice presidential running mate for Sen. Glenn.
The Ohio senator was the principal speaker for the event, and in that role he provided the major surprise of the evening. That is, he gave an excellent sDeech.
