Salaries Not Set
The actual amount of teacher salaries was tabled until next Tuesday’s final budget work session.
The board asked Estabrook to submit several sets of possible figures so they could set a “bottom line”. They would then let the index distribute the amount of money to be budgeted for salaries.
One set of figures will add zero to the base (the 1983-84 first year teacher salary of $12,463) simply to find out how much the buyin cost of the index steps would be. Other sets will add 6Vi percent, 7 Vi percent and 8 Vi percent to this year’s total teacher salary allotment. The board can then see how various budgeted amounts would be distributed under the index.
