Ron McRae in charge of the Navy’s investigation and I got into a big flap with the command. We’d had two deaths.” According McRae, the deaths were due to mistreatment. “I didn’t think they were doing enough to find out what really happened, bo I wrote my Congressman and told him.”
The response was a court martial—McRae’s. “I made the CBS Evening News. Walter Cronkite did a piece on me. He said I was going to jail for ten years for stealing Navy records!”
McRae wasn’t jailed. Instead the Navy dropped charges. He was given an honorable discharge and with his top secret clearance still intact, began work on clfssified studies for a private business that handled government contracts.
