After registering with school secretary Martha Kidwell, each child underwent a series of tests. Motor skills were observed in one room where the children were asked to skip, run and show the location of their noses.
In other rooms their vision, speech, hearing and health records were checked. A series of art exercises and a batch of questions were designed to evaluate their readiness to attend school.
The children must be five years old by December 31 to be a part of the Class of *98.
