Takes Time For All
Mrs. Semones downplays her selection as Homemaker of the Year. “I guess it’s nice to make it a special thing, although I didn’t do anything special,” she said. She also is quick to compliment the dedication of other homemakers, particularly Alice Laurence and Mary Priest who have perfect attendance at Amissville Club meetings for 18 and 15 years, respectively.
Mrs. Semones serves as president, of the Aipisaville Homemakers’ • Club. and treasurer-of, f. United Methodist* Women, a group that’* part «f the Amissville Methodist Church. Last Saturday* the churchwomen conducted a bazaar, selling handmade items that the group had worked a year to make. Like other members, Mrs. Semones worked on items at home, at the hospital, at the church or wherever she found a few spare moments. “Everything was happy from the word go,” she said of the women who worked long and hard together to make the fund raiser possible. “We did quite well.”
Mrs. Semones expressed concern, however, that she was unable to attend several meetings of the Amissville Homemakers’ Club this year. She noted how important it is for the president always to be there, ahe also explained why: Her mother suffered a stroke l&st January; her husband, Thornton, experienced severe kidney problems and was hospitalized in September. Mr. Semones now is back home.
