Seven runners from Rappahannock High’s Cross Country Team earned eighth place for the school in the State meet on November 10. There were 156 runners from 29 of the best Single A schools in the State competing.
The meet was held at Piedmont Community College in Charlottesville. The top 10 teams wi£h theirpcorpp were: BuflWo Gap, 64; Lumy,12&;WU- ^ son Memorial, 164; King William, 174;. r Strasburgy 179; Mathew, {85; .Auburn, 187; Rappahannock, 204; Stone-:1 wall Jackson, 225; and Madison, 228.
“A few schools surprised us,” said Coach Ann Spieker. “I had not heard '■ about King William, Auburn or Mathews.”
Ronnie Atkins won a medal for coming in eighth in the meet. The remaining Rappahannock runners placed as follows: Ricky Shaw, 27; Bobby Ludwick, 41; Jonathan Watson, 60; David Fischbein, 70; Marley Hay, 73; and John Dodson, 88.
“The boys ran a good race, especially the seniors who led the race,” Spieker said. “Ronnie, Ricky and Bobby are seniors who will be missed next year.”

Council Pres
Wakefield School in Huntly held elections this week for officers of the Prefect Council. The Council, which has proved to be an effective means of student government, also serves as a student forum.
H. Douglas Brooks III was elected president. Mr. Brooks is a National Merit semi-finalist as well as a member of the school’s soccer and basketball teams.
Junior John Landis was elected to the office of vice president; senior Priscilla Bevel was elected secretary and sophomore Sean Bennett was elected treasurer.
