The Wakefield Owl* eonduded their season last week on a victorious note with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against St. Anne’s Bellfield.
The win came on a cold, wet day when both teams were forced to (day a cautious game. The game opened with the Owls striking first off Eld Favre’s foot for a 1-4) score. St. Anne’s scored off a fast break minutes before the half to even the score.

Sock Hop Set
Nov. 16
The Rappahannock Elementary School Student Parent Teachers Association (SPTA) meeting held on Thursday, Nov. 8 included reports firom the membership and playground-development committees.
Response from parents to a membership letter, sent out Nov. 5, brought |818 to the SPTA fund. Free ice cream promised to the class bringing in the most money will be awarded to Miss Monica Toman’s kindergarten class this Friday.
Anyone wishing to pay membership fees and/or to make donations can do so anytime throughout the school year.
Regarding the long-range goal of playground development, outdoor basketball courts have been repaired, complete with hoops and chains. Arrangements also have been made with an electric company for donation and delivery of wood chips to deter flooding in the swing and slide area.
All existing equipment is to be painted and the possibility of resurfacing the slide is being investigated. Plans for ftirther development will be submitted to the school board for approval.
A survey letter has been routed to teachers to elicit response concerning an assessment of needs in which the SPTA might be of assistance.
A fall sock hop is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the RCES auditorium for grades K-8. Sock-hop festivities will include the crowning of a King and Queen, who will be selected from among the faculty. Students, mothers and fathers who attend will decide the winners. A country ham, donated by the SperryviDe Emporium, will be a give-away event Refreshments will be sold. Admission is $1 for parents; 60 cents for students.
