RICHMOND — Former Attorney General J. Marshall Coleman has rejected efforts by his Republican supporters to draft him to run as an independent candidate for lieutenant governor.
Mr. Coleman, who lost his party’s nomination for the No. 2 spot on the ticket at the state GOP convention in Norfolk last weekend, confirmed Friday that a number of people have asked him to run as an independent.
But, he said, “I’m a faithful Republican and will support the ticket and do anything I can to see that it is elected.”
