The Sanskrit word aditi also denotes the creative power — abundant, joyful and unbroken — that sustains the universe. This creative power implies the joy of “doing”: of a mother raising a child, nurturing its growth; of craftsmen and performing artists sharing their skills; of scientists in search of new understandings.
The Smithsonian offers two special sales exhibition tents in the main entrance hall where the Indians’ craft items can be purchased. Very reasonable prices too — and some most unusual gifts! Of course, Nancy and Richard came out of the building with their arms full of goods! The Aditi festival will continue at the Smithsonian until July 28.
